    Dr. Shirish Sinha is the Deputy Head, Swiss Cooperation Office in India and is responsible for managing and implementing programmes the Global Programme Climate Change & Environment of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in India.

    Shirish has over twenty-two years of experience in the development of policy making and project/programme implementation in the field of energy, climate change and sustainable development. Prior to joining SDC, he was Head – Climate & Energy Programme of WWF India, Principal Consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) India, Principal Researcher (Water – Energy) & Deputy Chief of Party with International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and Research Associate with the Energy and Resources Institute (TERI). In 2012, Shirish Sinha published his book “In Pursuit of a Light Bulb and a Smokeless Kitchen”, which is a longitudinal analysis on the role of the energy sector policies to alleviate energy poverty in India. His book was long listed for van Pooelje Prijs 2012 for best doctoral thesis in the field of public policy and public administration. He has co-authored six books and co-edited ten publications in the field of energy, renewable energy and climate change adaptation.

    Shirish Sinha holds a PhD in Public Policy (Energy Poverty) from the University of Twente, the Netherlands and Masters in Rural Management from the Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) in India.

    On behalf of SDC, Shirish provides strategic steering, coordination and guidance for project implementation with partners and monitoring of project results from the CapaCITIES project.

Daniel Ziegerer

Mr. Daniel Ziegerer is Head Swiss Cooperation Office India and Counsellor at the Swiss Embassy in New Delhi and heads the Global Programme Climate Change & Environment of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in India.

    Mr. Daniel Ziegerer is Head Swiss Cooperation Office India and Counsellor at the Swiss Embassy in New Delhi and heads the Global Programme Climate Change & Environment of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) in India. Throughout his professional career, he was involved in the development of policy and law-making in the areas of environment and sustainable development. He led official Swiss delegations to and represented the Swiss government in international conferences and negotiations on these matters.

    Before his appointment to India, Daniel was Head of Global Affairs at the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment. In this function, he was the Swiss focal point for the United Nations Environment Programme and several multilateral environmental agreements. He was also in charge of coordinating the Swiss preparations for the 2012 UN Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20). At the beginning of his professional career, Daniel Ziegerer worked for the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (Seco) in its Economic Development Cooperation Division. He also lived in Peru where he was working as Policy Adviser for the Peruvian Society for Environmental Law in its Biodiversity and International Affairs Programme.

    Daniel holds a master’s degree in Political Science/International Relations from the University of St.Gallen in Switzerland and also a Master of Laws from the University of Edinburgh in the U.K.

    On behalf of SDC, Daniel chairs the Project Steering Committee of the CapaCITIES project.

Alexander Luechinger

Alexander Luechinger, is mechanical engineer, specialised in renewable energy and energy efficiency.

    Alexander Luechinger, is mechanical engineer, specialised in renewable energy and energy efficiency. He is an internationally experienced and certified European Energy Award expert with the necessary technical and practical background in many of the relevant thematic fields: building physics, energy systems, GHG abatement technologies, waste water and sludge treatment, waste management. Through his extensive experience of cooperating with many different partners, clients and team members around the world, and because of his understanding of the importance of ensuring that projects address local circumstances and needs, Alexander is in a strong position to co-lead the CapaCITIES project.

Emani Kumar

Emani Kumar has been the Executive Director of ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability, South Asia since its founding in 2005.

    Emani Kumar has been the Executive Director of ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability, South Asia since its founding in 2005.
    Apart from overseeing the organisation's strategic development, he also coordinates various multi-year and small scale projects and research work supported by various donors including UN agencies; State and National Governments of India and Research Organizations.
    He has more than eighteen years of professional experience on issues related to climate change policy and planning, local governance, renewable energy and energy efficiency, social accountability, systems management and auditing. He is the Co-Team Leader of the CapaCITIES project.

    Martin Stadelmann is Deputy Team Leader, CapaCITIES project, and is responsible for Financial Management and Controlling and a Finance Expert, co-ordinating training sessions and advising cities on project and municipal finance. He is currently leading the overall public advisory portfolio of South Pole Group and is a contributing author on finance in the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report. He has had a lead role in the Low Carbon City Lab, the Green Bonds for Cities project and the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance, and has more than 10 years of experience working with the public and private sector in India.

    Rohit Garg is a project management support staff in India from South Pole Group. He is responsible for project steering, monitoring, financial management, preparation of semi-annual progress reports and GHG projection tool for four cities in India. He has a diversified experience of sustainability & climate change like CDM and VCS projects, Ozone Depleting substances (ODS), low carbon sustainable transportation project, carbon and water footprinting projects and sanitation project.

    Harshita Mehta, from Sofies, is providing management and communications support for the CapaCITIES project. She has worked on projects relating to packaging waste recycling, smart cities, composting and sustainability strategy as part of her previous professional experiences.
    As a consultant at Sofies, she works on waste management projects with a focus on e-waste and recycling.

Soumya Chaturvedula

Soumya Chaturvedula has been involved in designing municipal sanitary landfills and hazardous waste landfills in various locations in India, Canada and Barbados.

She is also specialized in the design of storm water drainage systems and hydrological modelling. She is involved in developing capacity building projects with local governments and research institutes in the fields of sustainable development and environmental management. She is involved in most of ICLEI South Asia’s projects in a technical capacity.

    Ashish Rao Ghorpade, an architect and urban planner by training, is Regional Executive Manager and Program Coordinator (Urban) at ICLEI- Local Governments for Sustainability, South Asia. Ashish manages ICLEI's sustainable urban planning, mobility and built environment related initiatives in the South Asian region.     Bedoshruti Sadhukhan is a key member of the ICLEI- Local Governments for Sustainability, South Asia sustainability team. She has experience of managing several long term international projects on environmental management systems for local governments, water and sanitation as well as solid waste management as well as climate adaptation. She is a key member of the ICLEI ACCCRN team and has been working on climate change adaptation and urban resilience building in India and Bangladesh under this project. She has more than 12 years of experience in the field of environment and project management, especially on environmental justice, environmental impact assessment and public participation in decision making.

    Monalisa Sen is a key member of the ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, South Asia sustainability team and is managing long term international projects on urban biodiversity, climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction. She has been working for over 16 years in the fields of Biodiversity Conservation, Natural Resource Management, Climate Change, Ecosystem Services and Restoration Ecology. She has worked in two global biodiversity hotspots- the Eastern Himalayas and the Western Ghats. She played a key role in developing the state strategy for conservation and sustainable utilisation of medicinal plants for the state of Arunachal Pradesh. She has the experience of having worked with Centre for Environmental Management of Degraded Ecosystems, University of Delhi, IUCN India and InsPIRE Network for Environment, prior to joining ICLEI South Asia.

    Reto Dettli is Managing Partner of econcept and has a broad experience in elaboration of sustainability strategies for cities and public authorities on state level in different countries worldwide. He is within the CapaCITIES project, responsible for the development of tools for city level mitigation and adaptation planning. He supports the local experts in the elaboration of climate profiles, the preparation of the city climate action plans, preparation of regulatory measures, strategies for increasing awareness on low carbon and climate resilient city development and the dissemination of project experiences to Indian cities and cities in other countries.

    Beat Meier is a Senior Project Manager at econcept and has a broad experience in the fields of energy and climate policies. He has engaged in-depth with the technical and economic aspects of national energy strategies. His expertise also includes organisational issues related to the implementation of national tasks at different administrative levels, for example in land use and spatial planning, agriculture, protection of waters, biodiversity and energy policy and climate change adaptation. He also assists cities and municipalities in Switzerland and abroad with designing their energy and climate policy. Within the CapaCITIES project he is mainly responsible for the development of tools for city level mitigation and adaptation planning.
